Welcome to Bible Concept News! Today marks the exciting launch of our new 2-Month Bible Survey Series, where we will journey through the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Each week, we’ll uncover the grand narrative of God’s redemptive plan.

To truly understand any story, you must start at the beginning. The first 11 chapters of Genesis are the foundation of everything. They answer life's most profound questions: Where did we come from? Why is there suffering? And is there any hope?

Let’s dive into "The Broken Beginning."

1. The Perfect Setup: A World of Intimacy and Order

Imagine moving into a brand new, fully furnished home – no bills, perfect weather, everything you could ever desire. This is how human history began. God, the ultimate Creator, brought order out of chaos simply by speaking. And when He made His masterpiece, humanity (Adam and Eve), it was an act of profound intimacy.

As Genesis 1:31 proclaims, "Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good." And in Genesis 2:7, we read, "The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."

We weren't just created biologically; we were intimately connected to our Creator. We lived in perfect harmony, designed to enjoy His presence and manage His creation. Everything was, indeed, "very good."

2. The Great Tragedy: The Fall from Grace

This perfect paradise did not last. The enemy, disguised as a serpent, whispered a lie: "God is holding out on you." He attacked Adam and Eve's trust, leading them to believe that becoming "like God" was better than simply trusting Him.

The moment they disobeyed, the immediate consequences were devastating:

  • Shame: "Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings." (Genesis 3:7)
  • Fear: "And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God..." (Genesis 3:8)

Intimacy was replaced by fear. Running to God became hiding from Him. But even in this tragic moment, amidst the consequences, God offered the very first ray of hope, a prophecy that would echo through all of Scripture:

"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." (Genesis 3:15)

This is the "First Gospel" – the promise that a Savior, born of a woman, would one day crush the head of the serpent. The solution to humanity's brokenness was already in God's plan.

3. The Divine Reset: Judgment and Mercy in the Flood

You'd think after the Fall, humanity would learn its lesson. But sin, like a deadly virus, spread rapidly, corrupting the entire world. By Genesis 6:5, God observed, "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."

God, being holy, could not allow such pervasive evil to continue unchecked. He decided to "wash" the earth clean. Yet, in the midst of this overwhelming judgment, His mercy shone through. He found one righteous man, Noah, and instructed him to build an Ark.

It's crucial to note that Noah didn't save himself; the Ark was his salvation. As Genesis 7:16 tells us, "So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in."

The Ark serves as a powerful symbol of Jesus Christ. Just as the Ark bore the brunt of God's judgment so that those inside could be saved, so too did Jesus bear our sins on the cross, offering us refuge from God's wrath. If we are "in Christ," we are safe.

4. The Ultimate Rebellion: The Tower of Babel

After the Flood, humanity had a fresh start. God commanded them to "fill the earth." But instead of spreading out and obeying, they huddled together, driven by a renewed spirit of pride and self-sufficiency.

"And they said, 'Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.'" (Genesis 11:4)

This was the first great act of humanism – an attempt to reach God, or at least establish their own glory, through their own efforts. They wanted to make their name great, not God's.

God's response was swift and strategic: "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth; and they ceased building the city." (Genesis 11:7-8)

The Tower of Babel resulted in global confusion and dispersion, leaving humanity scattered, diverse in language, and further away from God than ever before.

The Grand Setup for Redemption

So, as we conclude our first week, consider the journey:

  • We began in Paradise (Genesis 1).
  • We ended in Confusion and Scattering (Genesis 11).

Every human attempt to fix the problem—from Adam's knowledge, to Noah's righteous living, to Babel's engineering—failed. The entire world is now broken and desperately needs the Savior promised in Genesis 3:15.

God's plan for redemption wouldn't come through mass humanity, but through one chosen family.
